Billing FAQ

DevLingo Free has no trial period — you can:

  • 10 lookups per month: Enough for daily learning needs
  • Keep forever: Word Book and learning history are permanently available
  • Upgrade anytime: No data migration needed; upgrade directly to Pro
  • You exceed 10 lookups per month
  • You need offline language learning (Free downgrades after 3-day cache)
  • You want to save unlimited words to the Word Book
  • You need a shared team vocabulary
  1. Open DevLingo menu bar > Settings
  2. Go to the Subscription tab
  3. Click Manage Subscription
  4. Select Cancel Subscription

After cancellation, your account downgrades to Free at the end of the current billing period. Pro features remain available for the rest of the paid period.

Sign in to dashboard.devglish.com:

  1. Go to Billing > Subscriptions
  2. Find the subscription you want to cancel
  3. Click Cancel

Can’t cancel in-app? Email [email protected] with:

  • Your email address
  • Subscription type (IAP / License Key)
  • Reason for cancellation (optional, helps us improve)

We’ll process it within 24 hours.

Platform: macOS App Payment methods: Payment methods linked to your Apple ID

  • Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
  • Apple Gift Card
  • Alipay, WeChat Pay (depending on your Apple ID region)

Advantage: Integrated with Apple ID; billing managed through Apple

Platform: Web (buy.devglish.com) Payment methods:

  • Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
  • Google Pay
  • Klarna (installment payments)
  • PayPal
  • Alipay, WeChat Pay

Process:

  1. Select a subscription plan
  2. Enter email and payment information
  3. Complete purchase; receive a License Key via email (format: DL-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX)
  4. Enter the License Key in the app to activate

Advantage: More payment options, installment support, account not tied to Apple ID

Available for Team plans and annual agreements. Contact sales: [email protected]

Supports: invoices, purchase orders, bank transfers, dedicated network lines, etc.

Does the Team plan support annual billing?

Section titled “Does the Team plan support annual billing?”

Team annual plan:

  • Annual price: Monthly price x 12 x 0.85 (15% discount)
  • Example: 10-person team, annual $10,200 (instead of $12,000)
  • Billing cycle: Renewed once annually on January 1

DevLingo offers a full refund within 14 days, no reason required:

  1. Email [email protected]
  2. Provide the subscription confirmation email or Order ID
  3. We’ll process the refund within 3-5 business days

Refunds are returned to the original payment method (Apple ID account or credit card).

  • Account is retained, but subscription downgrades to Free
  • Saved Word Book and learning history are preserved
  • When you re-upgrade, all data is restored

If there are special circumstances (e.g., technical issues, unmet expectations), you can still request a refund after 14 days. Email us to explain the situation and we’ll handle it on a case-by-case basis.

  1. Visit buy.devglish.com
  2. Select a subscription plan and complete payment
  3. Receive an email with your License Key (format: DL-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX)
  1. Open DevLingo > Settings
  2. Go to Account > License Key
  3. Paste your License Key
  4. Click Activate

Activation is complete and the app immediately upgrades to Pro.

  • Not tied to Apple ID: Supports multiple payment methods
  • Account-transferable: Sign in on a new computer to restore
  • Securely stored: Kept in macOS Keychain
  • Regular verification: Daily online validity check (3-day offline cache)

When switching computers:

  1. Install DevLingo on the new computer
  2. Sign in with the same email (Apple Sign In or Magic Link)
  3. The app automatically recognizes your account and restores your license and all data

No need to re-enter the License Key — as long as the account is the same.

Device Management (Heartbeat Verification)

Section titled “Device Management (Heartbeat Verification)”
  • The license performs a daily online verification
  • Supports 3 days of offline use (app still works without network)
  • After 3 days without verification, the license enters offline cache mode
  • To manually re-verify, go to Settings > Account > Revalidate License

One License Key supports:

  • Multiple Macs under the same account: No limit
  • Different accounts: Require different License Keys

DevLingo offers a 20% discount for students and educators:

Eligibility:

  • A valid .edu email address
  • Or a student ID / faculty ID screenshot

Application process:

  1. Email [email protected]
  2. Provide:
    • Name and .edu email (or ID photo)
    • Plan type (Pro / Team)
  3. We’ll verify and issue a discount code within 24 hours

Using the discount code:

  1. Visit buy.devglish.com
  2. Enter the discount code at checkout
  3. 20% is automatically deducted
  • Students: Valid while enrolled
  • Faculty: Valid during full-time appointment
  • Annual review: Re-verification may be required

Payment declined?

  1. Confirm your credit card hasn’t expired and has sufficient balance
  2. Check if international transactions are enabled
  3. Try a different payment method
  4. Contact [email protected]

Invoices and taxes?

  • Web purchases can generate invoices (Settings > Billing > Generate Invoice)
  • Enterprise customers can request custom invoices (with tax ID, company name, etc.)

Can’t find your billing record?

  1. Check your email (including spam folder)
  2. Sign in to dashboard.devglish.com > Billing
  3. Email [email protected] to request a billing copy
